When you take this pencil out of your pocket and drop it into a bottle, it climbs slowly out again.

A long hair or very fine thread attached to the pocket where you carry the pencil. The other end is secured to the blunt end of the pencil with a small dab of beeswax.
When you press your hand at X and tighten the thread (in mesmerizing the pencil!), the pencil is slowly drawn up and out of the bottle. |  |
| When you hand the pencil to your astonished friends, don’t forget to scrape off the dab of beeswax and then detach the thread! | |
